Sofas and Stuff

Sofas & Stuff’s love of fine art, textiles and interiors led to the creation of this upholstery collection created in collaboration with the V&A (Victoria and Albert Museum), the world’s leading museum of art, design and performance. Creativity and craftsmanship abounds in the Brompton Collection, which draws inspiration from the museum’s expansive archives and the horticultural history of its site in London.

V&A Brompton fabric collection - Floral Scroll

Floral Scroll

Printed in Lancashire on a brushed cotton linen union.

The stylised flower heads of this scrolling design are printed in striking coloured monochrome on a neutral ground. Based on a printed cotton from 1860–85 retailed by Charles Hindley & Sons, a home furnishing company once based at a premier location on London’s Oxford Street, the arrangement of rambling flowers and leaves has a sense of movement and spontaneity.

Coromandel

Printed in Lancashire on a brushed cotton linen union.

Inspired by a beautiful chintz bed-hanging, made in the south east coastal region of India for the European market in the 18th century, the fantastical pattern is composed of enchanting birds with trailing tails and ornamental branches in flower reworked in modern shades.

V&A Brompton fabric collection - Flowering Kale

Flowering Kale

Printed in Lancashire on a brushed cotton linen union.

An attractive floral tree design with a block-printed look, inspired by a cotton textile produced about 1670–99. With a Dutch feel and refreshed in soft, contemporary colourings, this floral pattern is named after the ornamental and extravagantly ruffled vegetation growing from the stylised tree of life.
