Inspired by place and past
For the Browns, inspiration comes from many places - from travelling, but also much closer to home. Long walks across Dartmoor, time spent in antique and thrift shops for beautiful objects from the past all feed into how they think about their surroundings.

A thoughtful approach
Nothing here is driven by trends. Instead, Cath and Jeremy are drawn to pieces that feel purposeful, tactile and built to last - values that sit at the heart of their handmade homewares brand, Feldspar, and shaped the way they approached designing their sofa.
From values to materials
Natural materials mattered from the outset. The Browns were drawn to fabrics with texture and a sense of craft. Sussex Stripe - a viscose-linen blend with a “slightly wobbly” stripe was chosen for its hand-painted feel and how naturally it sits among the handmade objects in their home.

The Brown’s Helmsley sofa
Comfort was essential. With three children and a dog, the Browns wanted a sofa you could really “sink into” - generous and cocooning, somewhere to sit together.
The Browns chose the Helmsley for its gently rounded silhouette that looks great from every angle - a classic form that works effortlessly with their more sculptural furniture. A deep seat and generous feather scatter cushions deliver the comfort they were looking for.
A sofa that belongs
The Helmsley sits comfortably within the Browns’ longhouse. Scatter cushions in natural fabrics - including the Oak Tree print in linen from the V&A collection - add layers of pattern and texture without overwhelming the room. Hardwearing and designed for daily use, it reflects the Browns’ belief that good design should support the way people really live.
